ABOUT

As of February 28, 2022, the Village of Elmsford Board of Trustees passed the Climate Smart Community (CSC) Resolution with a vote of 5-0, committing to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adapt to a changing climate by adopting the goals of the NYS Climate Smart Communities pledge which comprises the following ten elements:

1.     Build a climate smart community

2.     Inventory emissions, set goals, and plan for climate action

3.     Decrease energy use

4.     Shift to clean, renewable energy

5.     Use climate smart materials management

6.     Implement climate smart land use

7.     Enhance community resilience to climate change

8.     Support a green innovation economy

9.     Inform and inspire the public

10.  Engage in an evolving process of climate action

We joined a network of over 354 local governments representing over 9.4 million New Yorkers throughout the state who are committed to leading action in their communities!

The Elmsford Climate Smart Communities (CSC) Task Force was created a few months later. It is a citizen led committee established by the Village Trustees. We have monthly meetings to move us towards the above goals.

Our meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month at 7pm either in person at the Elmsford Senior Center or virtually on Zoom.
